Colorescience

Colorescience is one of our favorite products. Colorescience is mineral based make-up that's good for your skin. It's free of the dyes, talcs, fillers, petrolatum, and other pore-cloggers. One the little tricks that I do, is I mix my Pep-up Gel with Chocolate Mousse and Journey from Neocutis, and I'm ready to face the day with glowing, protected skin.

Ok, I use this stuff, and I'm loving it. I used to be a bare essentials girl, but I found out they have a chemical that is not clearly advertised on the label "Bismuth Oxychloride" (you have to peel it off to find it underneath in the inactive ingredients). This is a compound made up of the element Bismuth, combined with Oxygenated Chlorine. It's a metal that they turn into a pearl, and then crush to make microscopic metal particles which give a slight shimmer to the makeup, and a silky finish. It is FDA approved, and we do not know (yet) of any harmful effects. But for many people with Acne or Rosacea, this ingredient can actually aggravate their condition, and cause the breakout of a rash. I personally just prefer to err on the safe side, since these products are being applied on the permeable surface of my skin, and I may use them for years.

I have always loved playing with makeup, ever since high school. And Color Science is the best makeup I've ever used!!
I love their products, the primers are amazing and make my skin texture velvety smooth. I love the Chocolate Mousse, which gives me some color, and smells like CHOCOLATE, I love it! It has real chocolate in it b/c of the high antioxidants. If I ever have a blemish here or there, I can put this stuff on at night, and it really soothes my skin, and helps diminish the redness by the next morning.

The loose mineral makeup/sunblock is so easy to apply, and isn't too opaque so it's luminous. But if I need more coverage I just use one of their more concentrated makeups, like the compact, to use as concealer. The makeup does feel a little dry if you don't do the last step, which is to spritz with a little toner mist. I use my own toner, but they also have aromatic toners scented with natural lavender among others, which I can't wait to try. So I spritz, and it sets everything so it stays looking nice all day, it doesn't get on my clothes, and it moistens it a bit and so the layers just become like a part of my natural skin. But I have perfect even tone, and a really effective barrier for the sun's rays, and pollution, to keep my skin looking it's best in the long run.

I love, love LOVE this product! Sometimes I reapply during the day, if I'm going to be out in the sun, or just want to freshen up. It feels good, it's a little de-stress treat that perks me up. It's not inconvenient or annoying, it takes 2 seconds to brush on a little powder and spritz, and it really freshens me up. Speaking of, there's also the Pep-Up Gel, which moisturizes but it's not greasy at all and it can go over the top of the minerals and creates a really sexy dewy look.

I found out it's made by the same creator of Bare Essentuals, but I guess that company got so big and the quality decreased somewhat, so she left the company and started this line. I love bare essentuals and used to use it all the time, but I'm now a convert. I'm not a chemist, and I don't know the formulas of the two, but I think this is better quality. And I just love the other products that compliment the mineral makeup, they work amazingly together, and address all my skin's needs. I couldn't be happier with the results. :)
